Description
Professor Richard Kirk received a B.S in Economics from the University of Delaware and a PhD in Economics from Virginia Tech, where he studied at the Center for Study of Public Choice, led by James M. Buchanan, who was the Nobel Laureate in Economics in 1986. Professor Kirk taught at Virginia Tech and was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Clemson University until 1985.
From 1985 until 2009, he owned an operated a wholesale distribution company headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware. In 2009, he accepted a teaching position from Perimeter College, where he has taught Economics and Entrepreneurship courses at the Decatur, Alpharetta, and Newton campuses. He served as campus Business Department Chair at Dunwoody from 2015 until 2020.
Prof. Kirk has been married to his wife, Diane, for 52 years. Together they have four adult children and seven grandchildren.
